Nocceto Michelotti
Noceto Michelotti is a beautifully situated estate winery located in Castel Boglione right in the prestigious Barbera D’Asti and Moscato D’Asti DOC’s. It is owned by husband and wife duo Graham and Margret Schratt-Kresfelder. The vineyard looks like something out of a Piemonte postcard with immaculate old (35 year) Barbera Vines lining scenic hillsides. The winery itself is a modern state of the art facility with no expense spared. Grapes are hand harvested and brought straight to the winery for high tech processing. Apart from an impressive sorting process, the grapes are even washed and dried to maximize quality! A combination of high quality large and small format French oak barrels are utilised for the high end wines. Winemaking is led by the impressive Giuseppe Caviola, who has gained a formidable reputation as one of Piemonte’s finest oenologists. Noceto Michelotti shows what can be done with Piemonte varietals in the right hands. Their Barbera is complex, luscious and rich in flavour while their Moscato is fresh, intense and focused…exactly as they should be. The winery also makes very good wines from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Nebbiolo, Merlot, Freisa and Brachetto. However it is the Barbera and Moscato which really shine.
