Cave Les Trois Blasons is one of the oldest co-operative wineries in the Languedoc-Roussillon. It began when winegrowers from three adjacent villages (Azillanet, Minerve and Cesseras) got together to promote and market their wines. The coats of arms from the three founding villages give the winery its’ name. They have since been joined by the villages of La Caunette and Aigne. This cave has access to vast vineyards in unique terroirs including some wonderful single vineyards. Yields are extremely low in the area and the winery is blessed with a state of the art cellar, stainless steel temperature controlled tanks, modern processing equipment and a tremendous barrel program. This is also complimented by a dynamic winemaking team led by a young and talented female winemaker who has international experience (unusual for this traditional area). The wines which particularly stood out were the Cuvée Gaïa La Livinière Red and the Cuvée Les Trois Blasons White. The red wine is a barrel aged blend of old vine Syrah (90%)and Grenache (10%) coming from the high altitude soils of Le Petite Causse at the base of the black mountains. The white wine is a traditional Rhone blend of bush vine Marsanne and Roussanne coming from the clay limestone soils surrounding the Cave. When a large facility has the ability to cherry pick small batch, single vineyard wines the results can be spectacular.
